This is what it has to say about the Sunbird’s base engine:
“96 very willing horsepower.”
From driving my little ‘Bird, I can tell you that the 96 horses don’t move me “smartly” through traffic. They move me “barely” through traffic. :)

My wife’s had the 3.1. I’ll admit, the 140 hp felt pretty zippy back then.

A horse’s lifespan, depending on breed, is only around 25 years, so...

Yikes! I grew up on a horse farm, though, and I can confirm this is true. Our oldest horse lived to be about 24.

The 3.1 has a healthy amount of torque and I’d imagine it would be rather peppy in such a lightweight car! I wish mine had the 3.1 but that wasn’t an option until ‘91 on the Sunbird.

My Morgan stallion lived to 26. They are more long lived than a number of other breeds, but he got sick. I grew up with that horse. :(

We had mostly Quarter horses. And a throobred. The thorobred was actually an ex-racing horse.

My grew up in Vermont and used to keep his horse at UVM while he was in college. He bred her to get my horse, Rebel, so named by my mom after he kicked her. Here he is on my wall I took this pic one sunny afternoon
